The Calcutta high court has ordered Dr Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Hospital to take an extended leave following the brutal rape and murder of a doctor on campus.

Shortly after he resigned, he was named principal of Calcutta National Medical College (CNMC). In the RG Kar rape and murder case, the court has also requested the case diary by 1:00 PM.

"It is quite problematic that the principal, who resigned due to moral responsibility, be rewarded with another post within 12 hours of his departure. The court was reported by Live Law India as stating, "There is a fear that something would go wrong with wasted time.

The principal is the protector of every doctor employed there, the court noted, and if he doesn't demonstrate empathy, then who will? It further stated that he need to be at home and not working anyplace.

According to the trainee doctor's post-mortem report, she went through "genital torture" before being raped and killed in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The victim was killed by smothering after being throttled. The strangling had caused a break in her thyroid cartilage. On August 9, the rape and murder happened between three and five in the morning.

The woman suffered injuries to her left leg, lips, fingers, and belly, according to the report. To prevent the victim from crying or yelling for assistance, her lips was covered and her head was pressed up against a wall or the ground.
 

In the midst of growing indignation over the graphic crime that has sparked nationwide strikes, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday set a six-day deadline for the city police to investigate the rape and murder of a junior doctor at one of Kolkata's most renowned hospitals.
