With the death of Hanif Kureshi, co-founder of St+art India, Delhi's street art has lost its shine. On Sunday, he passed away from lung cancer. Kureshi turned the walls of Delhi into an outdoor gallery and played a key role in starting the Lodhi Art Project.

Kureshi has fought for universal access to public art places throughout his career. "You might have a great studio to work in and might display your work in a famous gallery, (but) it is all meaningless if no one gets to see it, so the street is the most important art gallery," he said in a 2016 interview with Hindustan Times.
