A guy was ultimately found not guilty and exonerated following 46 years of imprisonment on death row. After more than fifty years, the longest-serving death row inmate in history was freed when a Japanese court declared that the evidence used to convict him of murder was falsified.
Iwao Hakamada, an 88-year-old former boxer, was unable to attend court to hear the verdict of his retrial, which was granted ten years ago following a protracted effort by supporters, due to deteriorating health.
