A dramatic encounter unfolded in Ghaziabad’s Tronica City on Wednesday evening, where two gangsters accused of firing outside actor Disha Patani’s Bareilly residence were killed in a joint operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh STF, and Haryana STF.

The accused, identified as Ravinder of Rohtak and Arun of Sonepat, were linked to the notorious Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang. Police said the duo exchanged over a dozen rounds with security forces before being fatally injured. Ravinder was struck in the chest, while Arun sustained bullet wounds to the neck and chest. Both later succumbed during treatment.

How the Hunt Began

The crackdown followed a September 12 incident, when two men on a bike opened fire outside the Bareilly home of retired CO Jagdish Patani, father of the Bollywood actress. Soon after, a social media account linked to gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility, suggesting extortion motives.

Investigators identified Ravinder through CCTV footage near the house and tracked their movements using technical surveillance and crime databases across Bareilly, Haryana, and Delhi NCR. A team led by ACP Dharmender Singh and SI Manjeet Singh confirmed that the duo had reached Ghaziabad early Wednesday. By evening, a trap was laid near Tronica City.

At around 7:20 pm, police intercepted their bike and ordered them to surrender. Instead, the gangsters opened fire, injuring SI Rohit, HC Kailash, and two STF constables. The retaliatory police fire brought the encounter to an end.

Motive Behind the Attack

According to UP STF officials, the gang had been monitoring the Patani residence for weeks with plans to extort the family. Haryana STF SP Waseem Akram confirmed that the duo was directly involved in the Bareilly firing. Ravinder was also wanted in a 2024 Fatehabad court shootout and linked to a September 5 gang war in Bhiwani.

Police recovered a stolen bike, a Zigana pistol, and a Glock Gen 5 pistol from the spot. Four officers injured in the operation are undergoing treatment and are said to be stable.

Officials said the successful operation sends a strong message against gangster networks operating in northern India, particularly those affiliated with Goldy Brar.
