White Sox Pull Off Rare 9th-Inning Comeback Against Twins
MINNEAPOLIS — The Chicago White Sox stunned the Minnesota Twins with a dramatic ninth-inning rally, sealing a 4-3 comeback victory on Wednesday night.
Michael A. Taylor delivered the decisive blow with a go-ahead, two-run double against his former team, snapping the White Sox’s 205-game losing streak when trailing after eight innings. Brooks Baldwin also chipped in with an RBI single as Chicago scored three runs in the final frame.
The win marked the White Sox’s fourth straight and their fifth consecutive against Minnesota. Rookie reliever Grant Taylor earned his first MLB win, while closer Jordan Leasure picked up his sixth save.
The Twins had led 3-1 going into the ninth, backed by strong outings from Royce Lewis (3-for-4, RBI, two stolen bases) and starter Zebby Matthews (six innings, one run allowed). But Minnesota’s bullpen faltered late, setting up Thursday’s game where the Twins will try to avoid a four-game sweep.
Angel Reese Expresses Frustration with Chicago Sky’s Struggles
CHICAGO — Rising WNBA star Angel Reese voiced her disappointment with the Chicago Sky’s performance as the team endured another tough season.
Speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Reese said she wants the franchise to attract “the best of the best” players if it hopes to compete for championships. She hinted she “might have to move in a different direction” if the team fails to improve but emphasized her commitment to maximizing her role while she’s in Chicago.
The two-time All-Star, averaging 14.6 points and a league-best 12.6 rebounds, also admitted frustration had led her to use words that may have been “taken out of context.” Reese has one more season under her rookie contract.
Chicago improved to 10-30 after defeating Connecticut on Wednesday, with Reese posting 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Despite injury setbacks earlier in the season, she remains determined to push the Sky toward contention.
