Mumbai: SUV driven by 17-year-old boy mows down milk vendor, caught by police
Navin Vaishnaw, who was distributing milk, died after a Mahindra Scorpio which was on the wrong side collided with his two-wheeler.
Early on Thursday morning in the Goregaon neighborhood of Mumbai, a speeding SUV driven by a 17-year-old kid struck and killed a 24-year-old man, according to police. Around four in the morning, the inciddent happened in Aarey Colony, according to news agency PTI.
According to a police officer speaking to PTI, Navin Vaishnaw, a milk distributor, lost his life when his two-wheeler and a Mahindra Scorpio that was traveling the wrong way collided. According to the official, a case was also filed against the SUV's owner, Iqbal Jivani (48), and his son, Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani (21), because the alleged driver is only 17 years old.
The SUV collided with an electric post after striking the two-wheeler. The young driver attempted to get away but was apprehended by the police after suffering injuries. According to the official, blood samples were submitted to a laboratory to determine whether or not he was intoxicated. If the defendant had gone out with his pals before to the collision, it was another matter under investigation by the police.
The incident happened months after two IT professionals, including a young woman, were struck and murdered in Pune in the early hours of May 19 by a luxury Porsche driven by a juvenile who was allegedly intoxicated.
The kid, who was 17 years and 8 months old, was brought before the Juvenile Justice Board by the police after they registered an offense, and they requested authorization to treat him as an adult.
